About TABLE [Wesley Fellowship]
Wesley Fellowship [called TABLE on the Cal Poly Campus] is a group of college students and young adults from the San Luis Obispo area who gather in a supportive, relaxed and friendly environment. The TABLE meets regularly on Sunday evenings for a family style dinner and activity. These gatherings are from 6:00-8:00pm on Sundays during the academic year (September—June) and are held in the upstairs room of the Wesley Building on the campus of the SLO United Methodist Church, 1515 Fredericks Street.
“The fondest memories are made when gathered around the table.”… or hanging out on the Wesley Lounge couches laughing, talking, or supporting one another. Sunday meetings aren’t just about food. (Although- the food is always good and plentiful.) It can be a time to bring your joys and concerns of your week and share or just feel supported with what life has thrown at you. Wesley Fellowship can also be a time to discuss what’s happening in the world and how we as people might be concerned or want to respond to it. It can also be a time for faith building/questioning discussions where “hot” topics are discussed and all opinions are valued.
The TABLE [Wesley Fellowship Group] is active and involved in and around our community. Whether attending group members sporting events, music concerts or academic projects, or helping out with church-activities or student led Bible Studies, each week brings new social opportunities. Ongoing activities include: hiking, camping, skiing, beach BBQ’s, helping out with Sunday School, church potlucks, serving at local homeless shelter, collecting for women’s safe house, carving pumpkins for decorations at a local shelter, preparing stockings for children with a family member in jail, Valentine’s for seniors that are unable to join us at church, local support raising walks and a yearly mission trip opportunity. There is something for everyone to be involved with and if you’re passionate about an area or social injustice you can guarantee someone else will want to get involved too.
